Abstract :
This research aims to introduce a nanofiber mat with antibacterial properties that incorporates cerium oxide nanoparticles and Ferula asefoetida extract for wound healing applications. To mimic the natural healing process, polycaprolactone was electrospun into nanofibrous meshes to serve as mimics of the extracellular matrix. The biological characteristics of the produced nanofibers, such as their antioxidant activity, water absorption capacity, degradation in laboratory conditions, and in vivo wound healing efficacy, have been assessed. In vitro studies demonstrated that our nanofibrous structure showed antibacterial activity. An in vivo study on normal full-thickness rat skin wound models revealed that prepared scaffolds greatly expedited the wound healing process by enhancing re-epithelialization and the development of granulation tissue. These findings indicate that our nanofiber system shows great potential as an effective strategy for promoting wound healing.
