Abstract :
The textile sector is one of the main industries that make intensive use of natural resources and raw materials. Raw materials used in textile production can cause serious environmental problems due to excessive use of resources such as water and energy. In recent years in particular, interest in and use of recycled textile products has increased in the context of sustainability. These developments are seen as an important step towards reducing the environmental impact of the sector. In this study, the quality parameters of yarns obtained by reprocessing acrylic waste from acrylic production lines into fiber form and blending them with conventional acrylic fibers were investigated. Four different samples were used in the study: 100% acrylic, acrylic/recycled acrylic 70/30, 60/40 and 50/50 weight ratio Nm 35/2 yarns. The tensile strength, % elongation, yarn defects such as thin place, thick place, neps, hairiness and unevenness (Um and CVm, %) of the acrylic blend yarns were analyzed. In the study, it was observed that the performance characteristics of acrylic yarns decreased as the recycled fiber content increased.
