Abstract :
Tissue damage and organ failure are significant problems encountered by many people worldwide. These issues can be addressed through treatments related to the tissue regeneration process facilitated by modern technology. Tissue engineering is situated at the intersection of biological sciences and biomedical engineering, aiming to design, manufacture, and implement artificial tissues and organs by understanding the structure and functions of human tissues. Fiber-based materials play a critical role in tissue engineering, providing structural support, promoting cell growth and guidance, controlling mechanical properties, ensuring biological compatibility, supporting cellular signaling, and enabling controlled drug delivery. These properties underscore the significant potential of fiber-based materials for future medical applications in tissue engineering. Their biological compatibility, mechanical properties, and processability offer unique opportunities to meet various requirements in tissue engineering. This review examines the properties, fabrication methods, and application areas of fiber-based materials that play a crucial role in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications, exploring their potential contributions to research and development efforts.
